Jelagam Vengal Rao Birth Anniversary Celebrations 2012
With the blessings and support of
elders, our AP Velama association started a new chapter. This has
been possible due to special interaction that occured between and
among our community members and this is what makes the reputation
of our Association and our velama community. Each of us have a
wealth of potential, which prepared us well to make our mark and
shape our association future.
Today velamas are a
community in transition. We have realized and accepted the need
for change. God has so richly blessed our community with courage,
mutual understanding and generous compassion which makes our
community different from others. Most of us once belonged to rural
areas and started migrating to twin cities and many people have
become prominent in various businesses and other fields. Today
there are thousands of families in twin cities. Many people
belonging to our community have also migrated to other countries
and have been contributing for the development of the country of
The Annual General Body Meeting of the association will be held on July 29th 2012 at the association premisis in Himayat Nagar, Hyderabad.
Karthikamasam Vana Bhojanaalu program was conduted by APVA Youth Committe on November 20, 2011 at the Jupally Balamma Kalyanamandapam. Around 2000 members from our community participated in the event. The guestes came all over over the state. There was huge turnout from Karimnagar, Jagityal, Sircilla, Pedapally, Mahaboobnagar, Manchiriyal and from the Twin Cities. Youth Committee members had thanked everyone for coming making the event a great success. Many guests who came to this program appreciated the programa and said that the event was conducted very profesionally. They also mentioned that enjoyed a lot. There were games for the Kids, youth, women and elders. Many of them who atteneded the event requested the Youth Committee to conduct this program every year during Karthika Masam.
The residents of the Boys hostel organized candle walk on August 26th from Boys hostel to Ambedkar statue in support of Anna Hazare’s anti corruption fight. The program was attended by the residents of the Boys hostel, Executive Committee members and members of the association. Our President and Secretary of the association spoke on the occasion and said that youth need to come out and fight against corruption.
Tree plantation program was organised at Jupally Balamma Kalyana Mandapam on August 25th. Trees of different types were planted inside and outside the premises. The program was attended by the Executive Committee members and Lions Club members.
Independence Day celebrations:
Independence day was celebrated at Girls and Boys Hostel on August 15th. The President of our association Sri B Narsinga Rao garu hoisted the flag in both the hostels. The program was attended by the Executive Committee members, association members and the residents of the hostels.
Gruha Pravesham ceremony was conducted for the 10 new cottages constructed in Srisailam on June 8th. Our association with the help of donors constructed 10 new cottages in the same compound where the existing choultries are located. The APVA Executive Committee members, Srisailam sub committee members & donors along with their families attended the ceremony.

Gruha Pravesham ceremony of new cottages at Srisailam
Birth Anniversary of Sri Jalagam Vengal Rao garu was celebrated by the association. Sri KVP Ramachander Rao Garu was the guest of Honor. The ceremony was attended by the APVA Executive Committee and members of our community.
Velama Sammellan an innovative work shop with Affiliated members of our community was held on May 1st 2011 at Jupally Balamma Velama Kalyana mandapam. Executive Committee members of the all the affiliated associations were invited. The main objective of this work shop was to promote better relations between various affiliated associations and seek cooperation for the census of the velama community in the state and also explore employment and matrimonial links. The workshop was attended by about 140 delegates from all the affiliated associations. This was the first kind of Workshop/Meeting with the affiliated associations in the history of our association. The representatives of the affiliated associations requested APVA to conduct such workshops on a regular basis.

Ugadi was celebarated in our associtaion premises in Himayat Nagar on April 4th. Panchanga Sravanam was read by the priest.

The president of our association Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Rao Garu spoke on the occasion and wished every one present, a Happy and prosperous Ugadi. He thanked everyone for coming for this celebration. He mentioned that currently the scholarship amount given for the students under the Vidyadhana nidhi is only sufficient for purchase of the books. He said that there is a need to increase the scholarship amount so that it can meet their complete education needs for the year. The president said that the current committee is working towards increasing the fund of Vidyadhan nidhi so as to achieve the above objective.
